Golf simulator installation in Hopkinsville and Oak Grove, Kentucky
Oak Grove is about twenty minutes from my door. Hopkinsville is closer to thirty-five. Both are well inside the radius I work, and the state line doesn't add a mile to the drive.
I come from construction. Framing, drywall, trim — ten years of it around Clarksville and across this line. A simulator room is that same work: framing an enclosure, mounting it to something solid, running power to it, and finishing it so it looks like it belongs.
Fort Campbell sits on the state line
The post straddles Tennessee and Kentucky and plenty of the families stationed there live on the Kentucky side. If that's you, there's a question that matters more than ceiling height, and almost nobody asks it before quoting you.
Do you own the house, or are you renting it?
It changes the entire build.
If you own it: build it properly. Framed enclosure mounted to structure, power run inside the wall, finished so it reads as a room rather than equipment in a garage. You'll get years out of it and it's worth something when you sell.
If you're renting: don't let anyone frame into someone else's walls. You want a freestanding enclosure, a portable launch monitor, and a projector on a stand or a mount that patches in an afternoon. It costs less, it goes into your household goods when you PCS, and you get the deposit back.
I'll tell you which one you are and quote it that way. The freestanding version is a smaller job for me — which is exactly why you won't hear it recommended very often.
What moves with you and what doesn't
The launch monitor, the projector, the mat and the screen all come with you. The framing stays. If you're eighteen months out from a report date, put more of the budget into portable gear even though the framing is where I make my money.
And if you have a date, the build gets a date. I don't start what I can't finish before you move.
Hopkinsville and Christian County
You get more land up here than you do closer to town, and with it more detached garages, shops and outbuildings. If there's already a building on your property, you're starting well ahead of someone squeezing a bay into a spare bedroom.
The building is usually there. What's missing is insulation, conditioning and someone to build the bay inside it. An uninsulated metal shop in this climate is unusable half the year and hard on the equipment the rest of it — that's insulation with a proper vapor barrier and a mini-split sized to the space, and it isn't optional if you want the room in July.
