I come from construction. Framing, drywall, trim. A theater room is a construction project with electronics in it — most of the work happens before anything gets plugged in.
What I handle
- Framing — walls, soffits to hide ductwork and beams
- Blocking for projector and screen mounts, so nothing is hanging off drywall anchors
- Cable routing inside the walls, not in surface raceway
- Riser platforms for tiered seating
- Sound isolation — insulated walls, resilient channel, solid-core doors
- Drywall, trim, and paint
- Electrical coordination through a licensed electrician
If the room isn't finished yet
A lot of theater projects start as unfinished basements. That's a build-out first — framing, insulation, drywall — and then the theater work on top of it. Worth planning both at once rather than doing it twice.
Working with your AV company
If you've already got an integrator handling the equipment, I'll work alongside them. Most AV companies sub out the construction anyway — I'm the guy they'd be hiring.
