Springfield is about forty minutes east of me on Highway 76. Close enough that I'm not charging you for drive time, and far enough out that the Nashville companies aren't coming this way.

I come from construction. Framing, drywall, trim. I've worked on homes across Middle Tennessee, including out here — a lot of them on acreage, off by themselves, the kind of place where you've got a shop or a barn sitting on the property already.

Building a simulator room is the same work — framing an enclosure, mounting it to something solid, running power to it, and finishing it so it looks right.

Robertson County has something most places don't: room

Out here people have shops. Pole barns. Detached garages with real ceiling height. If you've already got a building like that on your property, you're starting ahead of most people spending twice as much squeezing a sim into a basement corner.

The building is usually already there. What's missing is insulation, conditioning, and someone to build the bay inside it.

What I look at in a shop or barn

Ceiling height

Usually the good news out here. Most shops run 10 to 14 feet, which is more than you need — that means the projector mounts high and out of the way and you're not thinking about your driver.

Conditioning

Usually the work. An uninsulated metal building in Tennessee is unusable half the year and hard on the equipment the rest of it. That normally means insulation with a proper vapor barrier and a mini-split sized to the space. Not optional if you want to use the room in July or January.

The floor

A bare slab needs a moisture check and usually a pad under the turf, both for feel and for your joints. If it's cracked or uneven, that gets handled before turf goes down.

Power

Whether the panel can carry a dedicated circuit, and what it takes to get one to the bay.

Why a builder and not an AV shop

The framing is the part that decides how it looks

Anyone can mount a projector. The difference between a room that looks built and one that looks bolted on is the carpentry.

I come from construction

Ten years framing, drywall and trim on houses around Clarksville. A simulator room is that same work — most sim companies are AV shops who sub it out.

I'm actually here

Most companies serving Middle Tennessee are based in Nashville, Franklin or Brentwood, ninety minutes south. I live and work in Clarksville.

One contract, one guy

From the studs to the software. You're not coordinating a builder, an AV installer and an electrician who've never met.

Licensed and insured

Cornerstone Golf TN, LLC. Electrical runs through a licensed electrician, and I don't start what I can't finish on schedule.

Outside the radius? I'll still help you plan it and tell you what to ask a local contractor for.

Straight answers

Questions I get before people call

Ten feet is comfortable for most adults with a driver. Nine works for a lot of people. Eight is tight but I've made it work with the right layout. The only way to know is to measure your swing in your room — that's what the free assessment is for.

Most of what's been built in this area in the last twenty years is slab-on-grade, so basements are less common than around Nashville. The three spots I usually work with are garages, bonus rooms over the garage, and detached shops or outbuildings. Each has its own catch — the garage door track, the roof slope, insulation — and I'll tell you which one you're dealing with before you spend anything.

Depends how long you've got. The launch monitor, projector, mat and screen all come with you. The framing doesn't. If you're eighteen months out I'll tell you to put more of your budget into portable gear — even though the framing is where I make my money. If you've got a report date, the build gets a date, and I don't start what I can't finish.

No. If you already own a launch monitor, or you found a better price somewhere, I'll still build the room. I'd rather do the work than argue about where the screen came from.

A practice setup is an afternoon. A full bay is two to four days. A custom room built from the studs runs one to three weeks depending on electrical and finish work.

Yes. Fold-away and retractable setups give you the bay when you want it and the garage back when you don't. I'm building one of those in my own garage right now.

I measure ceiling height, width, depth and swing clearance, look at where your power is, and tell you what the room will and won't do. You get that whether or not you hire me. It's a measurement visit, not a sales pitch.
